Wireless Access Point Question?
I was suggest to get a wireless access point to solve some of my problems on getting internet access to another building on my property.
My questions are:
1) How doe Wireless APs work?
2) Where would I plug it in at?
2b) Would it need to be plugged into the router?
Here is what I was advised to get:

Let me know if this is the best choice/value.
Thanks in advance

Wireless access points, what they do is convert a Cabled Network to wireless network, it will be your same cabled network with all its properties but wireless
You plug in to an access point Power and the Ethernet cable (rj-45 jack)
one of the router network cable that you will plug into a computer is the cable you have to get to the access point.
normally the best access points are d-link and/or Linksys and i think this one you point to is a little pricey
i recommend you to get a Linksys WRT54X series those are the best, and they also work as a router so you get all in one package.
hope this helps, any question regarding this, you can email me.

A WAP is what you connect your device (computer, game console) to in order to connect wirelessly to a wireless router.
The wireless router is connected to your modem. In order to access the router wirelessly you need a Wireless Access Point (WAP). Many laptops have a WAP built into them, but if you dont, then a WAP like the one you linked is one option to go with.
So, for you to access the internet in another building, you would need a WAP ant the other building would need a Wireless router. Keep in mind, the signal only has about a 300 foot range. So it the building is more than 300 feet away and has think walls, it wont work.
