How do I install wireless adapter?

I just bought the Netgear wireless adapter, just the adapter, nothing else.
I thought I can get the installation started by just plugging it in, but apparently it’s not working that way. I see it on Device Manger, but it won’t give me internet connection.
Any idea at all? The adapter I have is WNDA3100
Thanks in advance!

What type of cell phone do you recommend me getting that has internet access?

I’m about to get my first cell phone soon and I want it to have internet access. I want one that’s affordable (under 0). I’m not sure what phone company I will be with yet. I don’t care that much if it’s mp3 compatible because I have my iPod. Thanks in advance.

Wireless Access Point Question?

In a dorm your only supposed to use the schools wired connection to connect to the network. If I were to hook up a wireless access point, and hide the SSID, for myself and only myself to use, would the campus IT be able to trace it? I know its possible, but how easy is it and likely that it will be traced? Is there any better or more crafty ways of doing this?

I only ask because the only network connections are in the worst possible spot of the room and none in our common area, and I don’t really enjoy walking around my dorm with a 20ft cable.

Thanks in Advance

is there a ETHERNET cable Wireless adaptor?

Hi, My wireless router will not reach a far away bedroom in my house. I have an actual ETHERNET (or CAT-5) cable running up there. I was wondering if there is such a thing that would plug onto the ETHERENET cable, and give off a wireless signal. (if so, what is it called?)
and How far should a Wireless router send a signal? (its a Wireless G, D-Link)

Thanks, in advance.
I have D-Link (DL 624) I have it sitting underneath my plastic computer table in the corner. I am only getting a 15 foot rang on it, even if I put my laptop on the floor. (line of site) how do I boost the signal strenghth?

Wireless internet access through a Wireless Access Point?

I work for a law firm and set up a Wireless Access Point (Linksys WAP54G) in our office so our laptop and several of the partners’ laptops they bring in from home can connect to our network wirelessly.

Now, my boss wants vendors and other attorneys who visit our office to be able to access the interent wirelessly if they need to. Is that possible without setting up their computers to log onto our network domain? I ask because I brought my laptop in from home, which has never logged onto our domain. I did have the WAP set up in WEP security mode using a passphrase generated key PLUS MAC address filtering. I removed the MAC address filtering and tried to connect my laptop using one several of the generated keys. It seemed to work, but I got no signal indicator and Internet Explorer would not connect. I also tried using no security mode (open wireless network) and it still didn’t work.

I’m guessing that you cannot do what they want to do using a WAP. In that case, would I be better off using a run of the mill wireless router like I have at home and connecting it directly to the cable modem?

Thanks in advance!

Wireless Access Point / Signal Enhancement?

I have a bit of a project ahead of me

I’m looking to Increase my Wireless signal.
Being in a Basement apartment causes some grief with this issue.

Now My hope is to do this for under 100$ FREE being better
I have two extra routers to work with a D-Link WBR 1310
and a TRENDnet tew-432brp

Now I know their old and Junk (TRENDnet)

So , I was hoping to turn one of them into a Repeater , Access point, something to enhance my signal to increase my Connection for both my PC’s.

Any ideas on how to do this?
My Primary Router is a Wirless N Cisco

My end hope is to achieve at least a 80-100% connection rate for my apartment depending on my location of course. Something Gaming worthy , Stream Worthy and more importantly Backup worthy. I daily back up to an off site server I have.

I welcome all Ideas, options , and Theory’s alike. More then willing to attempt them.

Thanks in Advance
Well unfortunately the Wireless N has no external Antenna , nor does it have the ability to add one it seems.

I need a situation that has no wires. This is why it’s more then a typical project for me.

So , unfortunately I Won’t be able to use any wires with this..

My hope was to get the Wireless N to connect to one of the Standard Routers and then (essentially) bounce the signal from the router to my PC’s and any other things.. Gaming Consoles etc..

So
Main Floor Wireless N —> Router G in Basement —> PC(s)

How do I get an alternate wireless adapter to work with my Xbox 360?

The 360 official wireless adapter is 0, which is a hefty fee. I already have a Linksys wireless adapter that can plug into my 360. However, I have no idea how to get it to work because it requires that I install software onto it and I don’t know how to get that onto my 360.

Is there any way I can get a regular wireless adapter to work on a 360? How do I install the software necessary/configure the adapter? Furthermore, will a wireless connection allow me to play on Xbox Live?

Thanks in advance.

What wireless router and xbox live adapter do I need for my xbox?

I need to buy a wireless router to be able to play xbox live and it would go on the middle of 3 floors. I want something that would cover the whole house but not to expensive. Should I go for G or N? And which xbox network adapter should I get with that? Does it make a difference?
Thanks in advance!!!!!

Does an older wireless modem effect your connection speed?

I have had the same modem for about 4 years now. I was wondering if a newer modem might speed up the connection and speed up download speeds or if the speed would be the same with any modem. Thanks in advance for any help.
