Is there something that automatically resets my cable modem when there is no internet access.?

Over time I have discovered that cable modems seem to fail occasionally and need to be reset in order to restore internet access. Unfortunately, I am not always at home to manually reset the modem. This can be a problem because I have a VOIP phone setup. Is there anything that can automatically reset my modem when there is no internet access?

How do I turn laptop into wireless access point for wii?

I don’t know why I shouldn’t be able to do this. I have a wireless pc usb card. I also have a router, but I tried connecting it to it with and without the modem, but it didn’t work, probably because the modem has to have a internet cable in it. I also tried making an hoc connection, and it worked, but my wii could not find the ssid number. I think that is only strictly for computer to computer i guess. What do I do?

Also, my laptop is pretty new (dv4-2040us Entertainment Notebook, HP, 64-bit, Windows 7. Should have no problem with it being "outdated")
ok…read the whole thing before you post.

Do all XBox Consoles come with a wireless adapter?

We have a console that is a couple of years old. But our neighbor has a brand new one. They hooked up their modem to a wireless network. Then on the other side of their house they set up the XBox console. When prompted they tried to connect but it will not. I have mine directly connected via ethernet wire. I told him I think they need a wireless adapter. Am I right? Thanks a lot.

How do I connect my XboX 360 to my existing Linksys wireless network?

I just bought an Xbox360 and I want to play online. However, I can’t connect it directly into the modem cause it’s already running on a wireless network (Linksys).

How come my wireless network doesn't work?

My modem is connected to my wireless router, which is directly (Ethernet cable) connected to one of my desktops. That desktop has working internet, but my other computers, which connect to the internet through wi-fi provided by the router, can’t even detect the wireless network. My wireless router is a Linksys WRT54G.

Can I connect a wireless router to a blue ethernet cable that supplies internet?

I live in student accommodation, and internet is supplied to our rooms through a blue ethernet cable running from the wall – the modem is elsewhere I guess. I plug the end of the cable straight into my laptop and I have internet – no logging in or anything. If I were to buy a wireless router and plugged the cable into that instead of my laptop, would that give me wireless?

Always only one fast ethernet connection in home network with multiple connected computers?

Hi,

Here, at home, we’re supposed to get ±10 MB/s via cable in a package that allows us to divide the internet for multiple users in the house. However, as soon as a minimum of two computers are connected, there is always one with a fast connection and the rest are slow (via speedtest.net : fast one has DL speed of ±8.75 MB/s, the slow ones 0.5 MB/s) And, it’s always the same computer that gets the fast internet.

I’ve tried restarting the modem and every other device countless times with every possible combination of plugged in cables, etc. But, it’s always that one PC that gets all the speed!

The modem got replaced by my provider recently (the problem existed before that) but, the box which separates the broadband and has all the ethernet cables connected to, is really old- do you guys think replacing that would fix it?

An other solution would be, if I could change it so that it was my PC that got the good speed, and not the rest, because they don’t need it as much. When I need internet speed I always have to disconnect all the other cables, so that only my ethernet cable is left in that old box.

A few legit suggestion would be deeply appreciated!!

I’m avoiding calling tech support because of them being a Belgian company, they are shit and will tell me they’ll send a guy over in 2 weeks who will do nothing and then charge 100 euros for the visit- like usual.

Thanks,
Raul JvH
