The Advantages and Disadvantages of Mobile Broadband

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Mobile Broadband

Wireless seems to be destined for greatness as a result of the degree of freedom that it gives all of us. Without wire clutter, portable computers are truly as portable as they should be and wireless technology has found a place in the hearts of all computer users.

Mobile broadband is the reason for this newfound freedom. By providing high speed broadband Internet access that is wireless custom devices such as telephones and portable modems, it permits the ultimate freedom. However, there are some disadvantages that come with this freedom as well. .

There are two primary advantages of mobile broadband. The first is that mobile broadband offers unparalleled convenience for access to the broadband Internet. All you need is a modem, and access to the Internet access is there. The second is that there is a complete lack of need for a landline makes for increased flexibility. Regardless if you are at the park, at work or at home, the landline is totally unnecessary. This means there are greater portable and less wires hanging around.

However, there are also two primary disadvantages of mobile broadband. The first is that the range of reception for most mobile broadband networks is currently somewhat limited. There are some places where bad reception exists and some where connecting to the broadband Internet isn’t even possible. In addition, where there is a high concentration of users in one area who are all using the mobile broadband, there is usually a slowdown in service. The second disadvantage is that the bandwidth that is available to mobile broadband users is usually much smaller than their traditional cousins. This particular limitation may go unnoticed to most casual users, heavier users of the Internet will find it particularly troublesome.

Mobile broadband has its limitations but it also has a vast potential that can be used and taken advantage of. However, it wasn’t very long ago that the same was said of wireless networks, and what tomorrow holds in store for us should never be underestimated.

For the casual user that values convenience and mobility over consistency and speed, mobile broadband is a rather attractive option. But, for heavy Internet users, and others that simply don’t or can’t handle the bandwidth limitations or the reception problems, they should maybe wait to sign up for this particular option. After the problems are worked out, mobile broadband will become the preferred form of access to the Internet.

Mobile Broadband – Convenient, Portable & Flexible

Mobile Broadband – Convenient, Portable & Flexible

Imagine cable and DSL internet connections connected wirelessly through cellular communications, that is mobile broadband. Though wireless internet has been available in many forms for a while now, it has only recently been becoming a popular alternative to WiFi. Mobile broadband is a step up from local wireless data applications such as WiFi which gets rid of the wire, but not the confinement. A user must be stationary and in a WiFi hotspot (generally inside) when using WiFi technology. WiFi could be considered as the data transfer counterpart of the cordless telephone, whereas mobile broadband corresponds to the cellular phone, which enables access to high speed data almost anywhere in the world. Wireless communication has become the standard for the business world. Remote wireless internet connection is becoming more and more popular each day and has changed the way businesses communicate internally and externally. It truly has become a wireless world.

Mobile broadband technology such as 3g is powered by the same technology that makes cell phones work. It is all down to radio waves and their frequencies. Mobile phones and the mobile-phone radio towers communicate with each other by sending packets of digital information to each other through radio waves. With standard telephone calls, the packets of information carry only voice or audio data. For mobile broadband, the packets of information would be other types of data such as e-mails, web pages, streaming video and music files.

There are a few different types of mobile broadband, which can make life confusing. Below is a list detailing them:

-The first form of mobile broadband was EDGE, also known as 2.5g. Though it was quite slow and expensive, so take up was poor.

-After EDGE came 3g or UMTS. 3g was a little quicker and became a decent alternative if there were no WiFi hotspots available.

-Following 3g was HSDPA. It is quite fast, though not as fast as WiFi.

-Currently HSUPA is the standard, with bandwidth similar to WiFi speeds.

A new format that is currently being developed is called WIMAX. WIMAX, or 4g, will be able to give users broadband connection speeds faster than the WiFi speeds currently offered in popular hotspots. It will also have a very wide network coverage ratio, which means more people being able to access the internet from more places. It is becoming commonplace for laptop manufacturers to incorporate mobile broadband receivers into the design of new notebooks, and with the huge increase in speeds of mobile broadband over the last few years; internet via cable may become a thing of the past.

New HTC Phones with Windows Mobile 7

New HTC Phones with Windows Mobile 7

At the launch of Windows Mobile 7 operating system by Microsoft, most major manufacturers of smartphones has renewed their offer. And perhaps most models have come from HTC, five in number: HD7, Trophy, 7 Pro, 7 Surround and 7 Mozart.

The differences between them are minimal, in part imposed by Microsoft, but HTC wanted a powerful launch. Let me count the ways.

The strongest terminal, as we expected, is the HD7. This is a copy of the old HD2 slightly redesigned, this time HTC managed to get some more elegance. It is equipped with a capacitive display of 4.3 inch (10.9 cm), 16M colors and 800×480 pixels. At least it is a SLCD.

Inside we find the same Qualcomm Snapdragon processor QSD8250 at 1 GHz and 576 MB of RAM. And the internal memory of 512 MB is dedicated to the operating system, plus other 8 or 16 GB to user discretion. Unfortunately there is no microSD slot, belonging to the fault of Microsoft (who had not wanted this advantage over the iPhone’s OS).

5 megapixel autofocus camera that shoots at 720p and has a dual LED flash. We have FM radio, media player with SRS sound Dolby Mobile, GPS and A-Bing Maps. Connectivity is “limited” to the quad-band GSM, dual band HSDPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5 mm audio jack.

The 1230 mAh Li-Ion battery is enough for 6.3 hours of talk or 13.3 days of standby. HD7 measures 122x68x11.2 mm and weighs 162 grams. The starting price is 0 (the 8 GB version).

We now move to 7 Pro model with slide out keyboard and two variants: GSM and CDMA. It is somewhat smaller but thicker, measuring 118x59x15.5 mm and weighs 185 grams. Capacitive display is only 3.6 inch (9.1 cm), but has the same resolution of 800×480 pixels and 16M colors.

Hardware is dominated by the same processor running at 1 GHz (Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250), but the RAM is lowered to 448 MB. And the storage is 512 MB, 8 or 16 GB. Otherwise things are virtually identical to the HD7. Except LED flash, which is double, and the absence of a vertical support.

The battery was changed, 7 Pro is equipped with a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery, with autonomy for 7 hours of talk or 17.5 days of standby. HTC Pro 7 was not yet launched, will be introduced later this year until 2010. But the phones can already be preordered for 0.

7 Trophy HTC’s younger brother HD7 is for those who want maximum power, but in a little smaller size, similar to the first Touch HD. The screen is 3.8 inch (9.7 cm) SLCD 800×480 pixels and 16M colors. This reduce the size of 119x62x12 mm and weighs only 140 grams.

Other than that, the facilities, connectivity and hardware are the same of the HD7 (Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz CPU, 576 MB RAM, 512 MB 8 GB internal). 5 megapixel camera has a simple LED flash, and Li-Ion battery has a capacity of 1300 mAh, which reached to 6.75 hours of talk, or 18.1 days of standby. And the price of 0 is a clear advantage over the HD7.

HTC 7 Mozart is a very interesting model, because it brings an 8 MP camera accompanied by a Xenon flash. A little smaller display, SLCD 3.7 inch (9.4 cm) but still 800×480 pixels and 16M colors.

But otherwise we have an exact copy of 7 Trophy. Even the 1300 mAh battery offers similar autonomy. Dimensions change slightly, reaching 119x60x11.9 mm and 130 grams. And at a price of 0 is probably the most interesting device featuring Windows Mobile 7.

And finally, the HTC 7 Surround, a model somewhat strange. Because it has slide out box, which simulates surround sound. The screen has the same specs (resolution 800×480 pixels and 16M colors), we find everything the same inside (QSD8250 Snapdragon processor at 1 GHz), but only 448 MB of RAM, 16 GB and 512 MB of internal memory.

5 MP camera on the back and has a back support for vertical positioning. But is having extra connectivity tri band HSDPA. Li-Ion Battery 1230 mAh which is limited to 4.16 hours of talk time or 11.5 days of standby. In some places the HTC 7 Surround can be purchased for only 0.

Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM)

Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM)

Global system for mobile communication (GSM) is a globally accepted standard for digital cellular communication. GSM is the name of a standardization group established in 1982 to create a common European mobile telephone standard that would formulate specifications for a pan-European mobile cellular radio system operating at 900 MHz. It is estimated that many countries outside of Europe will join the GSM partnership.

GSM provides recommendations, not requirements. The GSM specifications define the functions and interface requirements in detail but do not address the hardware. The reason for this is to limit the designers as little as possible but still to make it possible for the operators to buy equipment from different suppliers. The GSM network is divided into three major systems: the switching system (SS), the base station system (BSS), and the operation and support system (OSS).

Publihsed by (http://www.mobileadons.com)

There are two basic types of services offered through GSM: telephony (also referred to as teleservices) and data (also referred to as bearer services). Telephony services are mainly voice services that provide subscribers with the complete capability (including necessary terminal equipment) to communicate with other subscribers. Data services provide the capacity necessary to transmit appropriate data signals between two access points creating an interface to the network.

GSM has used a variety of voice codecs to squeeze 3.1 kHz audio into between 6.5 and 13 kbit/s. Originally, two codecs, named after the types of data channel they were allocated, were used, called Half Rates(6.5 kbit/s) and Full Rate(13 kbit/s). These used a system based upon linear prdictive(LPC). In addition to being efficient with bitrates, these codecs also made it easier to identify more important parts of the audio, allowing the air interface layer to prioritize and better protect these parts of the signal.

GSM was further enhanced in 1997 with the Enhanced Full Rate (EFR) codec, a 12.2 kbit/s codec that uses a full rate channel. Finally, with the development of UMTS, EFR was refactored into a variable-rate codec called AMR-Narrowband, which is high quality and robust against interference when used on full rate channels, and less robust but still relatively high quality when used in good radio conditions on half-rate channels.

I always try to search useful information and then share it with others….

3G Wireless Internet Mobile Broadband and Internet Service

3G Wireless Internet Mobile Broadband and Internet Service

One of the most popular types of high speed Wireless Mobile Broadband Internet is 3G Wireless Internet. 3G wireless Internet boasts of download speeds between 768 Kbps to 2 Mbps, while upload speeds generally are limited between 400 and 800 Kbps. 3G wireless Internet is easy to use and is also affordable. 3G mobile broadband also offers unlimited mobility of your broadband connection.

As prices of DSL are going up and phone companies are also raising their rates, one must consider the advantages of 3G Wireless Internet Broadband Services. A concern has been raised due to the access of Internet using DSL or a satellite dish on the roof because the problem is cause by weather disturbances. Another concern is bandwidth rationing and clients experience delay in their browsing activities. Especially nowadays, phone companies demand a higher monthly price so that you can have faster Internet experience, but how can they promise higher speed when they have difficulty distributing their limited resources to their subscribers.

This is where 3G wireless Internet will come in because an advantage of 3G is that it is not really much affected by the weather as long as cell phones are working. Data packets need not travel through the use of other equipment, as data immediately goes to you. By adding more tower sites, cell companies improve 3G Wireless Internet quality of service. They are also beefing up their services so that you can access the Internet through Wi-Fi hotspots.

However, you have to make sure that you check your plan when using 3G Wireless Internet. Check out the add-on packages included in your plan so that you will not fall in to the trap of spending more than what you really need. There are some features that providers offer at no extra charge. It should be offered at a very reasonable price. You’ll want to get quality Internet use and at the same time the best value for your money. You must also check the price of the USB Cellular Modem, AirCard, or other mobile Internet device. This will help you further compare the prices and choose the best 3G wireless Internet provider.

Furthermore, you do not have to pay for extra since you are not using your landline. This is the advantage of 3G Wireless internet. Connections remain consistently the same wherever you go. You don’t have to pay extra for connection fees. There are many options and features which are readily available from mobile providers. You will experience automatic Internet connection the moment you plug in your USB modem or AirCard. You can access the Internet anywhere as long as there is coverage of your mobile provider.

When connecting to the Internet, the program in the cellular Internet device usually automatically installs on the laptop and you can start using the Internet. 3G Wireless Internet is best for people who wants to access broadband anywhere. The value of using 3G Wireless Internet outweighs DSL or high speed cable technology especially in this matter. 3G Wireless Internet is not suggested to clients who download large files on a frequent basis. There is usually a 5 GB monthly bandwidth cap with relatively expensive overage fees.

Should You Get Fixed Line Broadband Or Mobile Wireless Broadband?

Should You Get Fixed Line Broadband Or Mobile Wireless Broadband?

The World Wide Web is, increasingly, something we are all growing to rely on. Governments, businesses and individuals all use it for an array of different transactions and it’s increasingly a vital part of everyday life. But what are your options when it comes to choosing a broadband contract? These all have their advantages and disadvantages. We take you through two of the main options – fixed line broadband and mobile wireless broadband – exploring the pros and cons so you can make a decision for yourself which you think is best.

The main advantages of mobile wireless broadband include the ability to choose between pay as you go options and fixed tariffs. The installation process is also simple – you just plug in your modem and it sorts it out for you. You can also check your emails or catch up on work no matter where you are as you can take your internet with you wherever you go. As your internet is effectively portable, you can also save money by not having to pay to install a line.

While the advantages of mobile wireless are many, there are also disadvantages to consider. For example, it tends to have extremely low download limits, even on their best tariffs. You typically also have to pay high charges if you go over your download limit, which is obviously more likely when it’s already so low. Mobile broadband speeds are also much slower than fixed line speeds and very rarely reach their maximum speed. Coverage can also be patchy in rural areas.

Now we move on to fixed line broadband, one of the main advantages of which is that it has a much more consistent connection than mobile broadband. While the speed of it does depend on where you live, it’s generally much easier and faster to download things as you get much faster speeds than with mobile broadband. It’s also becoming more widespread, which makes it increasingly cheap. Also, download limits are often very generous or don’t exist at all, so you’re much less likely to get charged for going over.

In terms of the disadvantages of fixed line broadband, one of these is that it can be more complicated to set up than mobile wireless broadband. Also, you’ll probably have to pay for a line connection so it can be installed and, after that, you’ll be fixed to using it in one place, meaning you’ll only be able to use the internet in your home. You’ll also find you may have problems if you want to switch provider partway through a broadband contract and may have to pay charges.
