How do I control my other computer using just an ethernet cable?
The screen is cracked except one corner on one of my computers and i was wondering if there was a way to control it with another computer with just an ethernet cable
Can I plug the ethernet cable straight into the phone jack outlet?
I have a computer set up with DSL modem and all the hookups in my room upstairs. But I want to hook up another computer – it is old (Millenium Edition) but just use it for internet only. There is no way to hook it up to wireless so I would have to have it on wired. SO — can I plug the ethernet cable into the phone jack and the other end to the computer and have internet with no router or modem?
How come every time I try to set up my xbox live trough my laptop with an ethernet cable i says error?
I’m trying to setup my xbox live through my windows vista laptop with an ethernet cable. I know you go to network then network and sharing center and then wireless connection properties but when I check the boxes and press ok, my computer freezes and it says, An error occurred while internet connection sharing was being enabled. Any help? Please? It would mean alot.

I purchased an Acer Aspire, when i plug my ethernet cable in, nothing happens, i have tested the cable on my laptop and it works, so its not the wire. On Windows Network Diagnostics it says "A cable is not plugged into the network adapter "Local Area Connection" " but it is definately plugged in. Comet(place of purchase) is refusing to exchange or give a refund on it, saying it is not their problem. Is it a faulty machine? Can i change anything in the settings to make it work? I need help becasuse i am at a total loss of what to do. Thanks in advance for your replies.
Chase C: The computer did not come with any disc’s to install drivers, it came with 2 blank DVD-R discs for me to CREATE a backup of it, but no drivers.

How to run ethernet across my house from my wireless router…?
I have a small ranch style house that has a crawl space under it. My problem is my wireless router works but my XBox 360 and Blu-ray player are obviously not wireless. I have tried a wireless bridge that I have from Linksys and a wireless usb adapter on both of these and cannot get them to connect to my network. I know that xbox makes the wireless adapter but I dont’ like having to spend or more just to fix this one product…the blu ray player requires a hard wire connection I found out.
SO my question is, what do I need exactly to run my ethernet cable (what type is best) from my linksys wireless router to the complete opposite side of my house? I would like something that can expand the ethernet to 4 or 5 things so if I add something new I will not have to go back under my house and run a new wire. I’m sure this can be done and isn’t that hard, I just don’t know exactly what I need to purchase for this project.
