I have a D-Link wireless router and am having troubles with it. I had it all set up, but then the signal started to cut in and out all of the sudden on my laptop (even though it was working perfectly fine before). So then I reset the router, and it doesn’t seem to work any more. I hooked all the internet and cables back up (after resetting the router), but then my desktop computer didn’t pick up the internet, so I cannot set up the router online! I looked on the router and the only lights that lit up were the ones to indicate power and a network, and the light that indicates internet remains dark (even though I have my modem hooked up to it!!!). I need some answers on what to do here as it is really giving me serious troubles!

Ok.. is it possible to make my printer wireless with my modem and router? I have the desktop computer and i want to make the printer wireless because my modem is also a Router..and the router is connected to the desktop computer as well as the printer…

I have a laptop and a desktop computer and I have a wireless router in my house. I think anyone who lives in the vicinity can jump on to my internet. I know its not safe. How do I close it out so that only my laptop and my office computer get internet access? Will it be safe from hackers after that? I have a desktop computer and internet that works with my DSL modem. I bought a laptop and now i would like to have wireless internet. Today i bought an access pint linkys WAP11. I need help settign the WAP. after I insserted the setupo CD it sais no wireless accces point detected. but i see in my laptop there is limitted connectivity.. but no internet.

any advice?

I want a laptop, the one i plan on getting does have a wireless card (or whatever it’s called) already installed .. I was wondering If i bought a wireless broadband router could i hook it up to my qwest internet (if so, how do i do that?) & would that make my laptop have internet, and could i use it anywhere in the house?

I just got a wii and i want to get internet for it. However we dont have wifi and need some way to connect it so i am looking into buying a wireless router. Since the wireless router will need to hook up to my desktop computer will that router slow down the internet on the desktop computer alot compared to the desktop being hooked up to a dsl modem?

I’ve got a laptop that can support wireless connection. Currently I’ve got Internet through broadband ADSL, but I was thinking of using this connection on the desktop computer and use wireless on the laptop.

So what do I need? I’ve heard something about routers and wireless adaptors, but how exactly do these work? Will they work with ADSL? Are there specific routers/adaptors depending on the type of the connection, or any one will do?

My wired DSL modem is connected to my wired desktop computer. I have a wireless N router and have a wireless laptop. I am going to purchase a new desktop computer or another wireless laptop. Can I get a wireless DSL modem to go completely wireless or how does this work? I know a little about computers, but not much. I am upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7.

To ask another way: How does and where does the hardware firewall protection come into play? If I run a wired ethernet cable from the desktop computer to the wireless router’s wired ethernet connection, is that computer’s firewall protected or not? Are the hardware firewalls only available on the wireless routers? …available only in wired routers?… or are hardware firewalls available on wireless AND wired routers? Thank you!
