My cable internet goes out during the day but is fine when weather is cool. Do I need to rewire house?

When weather is less than app. 80 degrees I have internet service. When it gets hot I lose service. The cable company installed it on the eave of the roof, but laid the 75 ohm cable across the roof. I moved the cable so that it no longer ran across the roof and gained another couple of hours during the day of connection time.

One of the contractors they sent said that if we could use the outdoor cabling the company uses we would probably be fine, but the company won’t allow them to use it indoors.

Since we have no crawl space to run wires. Do they make heat resistant 75 ohm cabling? Or can I increase the signal to the cable modem with an amplifier. The cable company hasn’t offered any options except drilling through the walls, which really won’t help. I have 3 TV’s and my cable modem. TV pictures are fine. Internet service works great when it is up and running.

Any ideas?
Internet service goes down when sun is shining and above 80 degrees. ISP has been out and says house need to be rewired with new RG6 cable. I rerouted their installation so that 50′ of app.350′ of outside cable was no longer laying on roof of house (took 50′ off roof and ran that through eave of house and now I get about 2 more hours of internet service each day – TV service is always fine). ISP has checked signal coming to house from pole and says it is sufficient. They last guy out said that heat was a factor. I asked about a signal booster and they said they didn’t like to do that, but I have a friend who said they installed one for him. I think the run from the pole to the house is too long and since it is in full sun all day much of the signal is lost before it gets to me. I need someone with technical expertise to explain what’s happening. Does anyone have any ideas? Do you know of a cable from high heat installations? What kind of booster can I get to install in the house?
We can’t drill through wall because there are 3 TV’s and internet service in different rooms to they have to go throughout the house. Drilling would only bring it into one room.

Can I use two Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router to create a single wifi network?

My cable modem comes in to the home office behind my garage, which is diconnected from my house. I currently have a setup where I have a Netgear access point in the office and one in the attic in the house, and they work together in bridge mode. The access point in the attic serves the house. This has been working just fine for nearly two years but the performance is a bit slow as the distance between the two routers is a bit much for the Netgears.

I’m wondering if I bought two of the Belkin Wireless Pre-N Routers, could I achieve the same setup? I don’t see anything about using these devices to create a bridge anywhere in the documentation.

Is there another setup you recommend?

Thanks,
ian

How can I use a 2WIRE 2701HG-G (Bell) as a wireless access point?

I used to be a Bell Sympatico member and recently switched over to Cogeco Cable. I am currently running a hard-wired connection from my RCA DMC425 cable modem to my PC (Ethernet).

My question is… Would I be able to run the following setup:

RCA -> 2WIRE -> PC… I would like to have the ability to use wireless through my 2WIRE 2701HG-G modem/router. So in other words, can I bridge the two modems and be able to use JUST the wifi on my router?

Any help/recommendation would be extremely appreciated!! :-)

Why would my cable internet connection be slower on a USB network adapter vs ethernet?

I have a cable modem going into a linsys wireless router. When I can connect via wired ethernet I get a (according to speedtest dot net) download of a 35 MB file in 19 seconds. The same test done with 54 mbs Belkin USB wireless adapter takes 5 min. I have even tested with an older 10 mbs wireless adapter and get same results. Have tested different machines, with the adapters as well. I understand ethernet is much faster but did not think it would matter because my cable connection is only so fast anyway.

Can you help with a network connections question?

I’m getting broadband internet and I don’t know if the jack at the back of my computer will connect to a cable modem. I know my desktop computer (Compaq Evo D310) contains an "Integrated Intel PRO/100 Network Connection." In the back of the computer there is what looks like a phone jack, and I know the computer definately does not have a dialup type modem installed. Is this the "network connection" jack for an ethernet connection to a cable modem?
