Probkem with my D-LINK wireless router?

I have a wireless D-LINK 802.11g/2.4GHz wireless router DI-524 which used to work an year ago, which was when, it was unplugged last. I try it today by connecting it to my broadband cable modem and the same wireless router would not work.
What happens is that the moment I power it on, the LEDs for the Power, Status, WLAN,1,2,3,4 all get turned on with a constant green light. Though nothing else is connected to this wireless(like the connection to the cable modem), these 7 LEDs turn on. The only one that does not have a green light is the WAN.
Is this any indication that my wireless router is useless now ? Or is there a fix that I can try?
Thanks

wireless router as bridge?

I have a problem using two wireless routers on my network, need to program second router only as a bridge. I have wireless internet from my first router (main one) in my house in the 1st floor, when I add to my network in the 2nd floor another wireless router it gives me network problems, I believe I need to configure the 2nd router so it only works as a bridge (is bridge the right word or meaning?), how can I do this? please help me. In my network, first there is the cable modem and then the first or main router, from this 1st router many cables come out to many switches for ip cameras and for xbox, but I canot seem to install a wireless router 2nd one) in the 2nd floor of my house, how can I do this???? Please explain me. The first router is a Belkin brand and the second one is a Dlink brand, do I have to configure the 1st router (main one, Belkin brand)? or only the second one?
The second wireless router is connected through cable (not wireless) from the 1st router.

How to set a TP-LINK wireless router as a network hub, using the network DHCP?

I have a small firewall (s-box) connected to my internet cable modem, that has an internal DHCP server. 3 PCs connected by cable to the s-box. Now I’ve connected a TP-LINK wireless router to the s-box and I would like to add my laptop to the same network by wireless connection. WAN entry of the TP-LINK is now connected to the s-box. LAN entry can connect to any of the PCs but not necessary. Problem is that the TP-LINK has its own subnet IP (192.168.1.1) and so my laptop is in a different subnet than rest of network. When trying to set the TP-LINK IP address to same subnet mask of the network, I get error message. Disabling the DHCP option of the TP-LINK causes a limited wireless connection in my laptop (no IP address). How can I set the router to work as hub?

About my wireless ethernet router and laptop internet connection, and network adaptor.?

Basically, I have the internet > Cabel Modem > Wireless Ethernet Router > PC.

Now, if the wireless ethernet router and the internet on the pc were all to be working fine – and i were to try downloading the internet software onto my laptop to recieve the wireless connection via the wireless internet laptop port – that should work, right?

But my laptop tells me i need a network adaptor – which as i can see from my research are usually usb adaptors to pick up the internet signal – pressumably from my ethernet router.

Unless you have any suggestions, dont worry too much about my laptop wireless internet port not working – its very battered!

But if i were to have Internet > Cable Modem > Ethernet Wireless Router > PC > (Wireless ethernet router signal) > Network Adaptor in laptop > Working internet on laptop.

Right? =D

Wireless internet access through a Wireless Access Point?

I work for a law firm and set up a Wireless Access Point (Linksys WAP54G) in our office so our laptop and several of the partners’ laptops they bring in from home can connect to our network wirelessly.

Now, my boss wants vendors and other attorneys who visit our office to be able to access the interent wirelessly if they need to. Is that possible without setting up their computers to log onto our network domain? I ask because I brought my laptop in from home, which has never logged onto our domain. I did have the WAP set up in WEP security mode using a passphrase generated key PLUS MAC address filtering. I removed the MAC address filtering and tried to connect my laptop using one several of the generated keys. It seemed to work, but I got no signal indicator and Internet Explorer would not connect. I also tried using no security mode (open wireless network) and it still didn’t work.

I’m guessing that you cannot do what they want to do using a WAP. In that case, would I be better off using a run of the mill wireless router like I have at home and connecting it directly to the cable modem?

Thanks in advance!

Ethernet Network Question?

I am planning on wiring my house with cat6 cable. I have a time capsule as the router, and a TWC cable modem, and an airport express as an extender. I heard if you wire your house in cat6, you have to wire everything in cat6, or it only makes it as good as the worst thing you wired, such as a patch panel, and wall jacks, etc.

My question is, are the ports on the back of the time capsule cat6? The airport express? Also, are the ports gigabit? Is 10/100 Base-T gigabit?

Thanks

Wireless Ethernet Bridge or Access Point?

Fundamentally, I’m trying to figure out the difference between a wireless ethernet bridge and access point…..but here’s what I want to do: I’m considering buying the iXPS Internet Message Clock, which needs a wired ethernet connection. I would like to move the iXPS around to house, so I need a wireless connection.

Here’s the setup of my network right now: the cable modem is connected to a wireless router, which also has 4 wired ports. One of those wired ports is connected to a secondary router, which I had to configure to have a fixed IP or something like that so it would work. On that secondary 4-port router, I have connected a laptop, the ethernet cable from the main router, an external hard drive, and a printer.

So I was wondering if a wireless ethernet bridge would do the trick by connecting one to the iXPS. If I did that, would I need to add anything to the wireless router (like another ethernet bridge), or would the configuration work properly whereby the router can communicate with the ethernet bridge?

Any help you can give would be appreciated, thanks!!

How to setup a wireless network in a LARGE home?

I am moving into a large house and currently have wireless setup in my apartment and want to know how I will be able to set up a wireless network that will have excellent coverage throughout the house? Is there a way I could run 2 seperate routers, one on each side of the house? Right now my router is a wireless g and I get excellent coverage throughout my apartment. If I ran it off of 2 routers is there a way to piggy back them off each other or would I need an additional cable modem? Or would I have to look at maybe g+ or better?
