Is there an alternative to the wireless network adapter for xbox 360 live?
I want to be able to connect to live in my room, but the computer and router are in another room, so I need some type of wireless connection. I know the adapter that is small and connects via usb, but my friend told me he heard about a gaming wireless adapter(third party ), and it looks like a small router and also connects via usb. The reason I’m asking is because I can’t afford to get the small one at the moment with other stuff that I want/need.
Would I be able to have a wireless router in my room, and plug my 360 directly to it, if there is already another wireless router in the house?

No, what you are looking for is a wireless access point. It is similar to a router, but rather than broadcasting a signal, it recieves the signal. You can usually connect it to an x-box via USB or CAT-5e cable.

Any of the adapters that worked on the original Xbox will work with the 360. I use the one from D-Link.

yes there are a few out there.
netgear has one:

So does Dlink

there are probably several others as well. The only problem it hat you may need to plug them into you PC to configure first – then plug into you xbox
