How to change connection type from USB to Ethernet for use with router?
I just bought a D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router but am having trouble getting onto the internet with my modem through an ethernet cable as it is connected via a USB cable.
The manual for the router says that I need to ‘change connection types’. How do I accomplish this?
I want a solution that does not require me to purchase anything extra if possible please.

It should just be a matter of switching the cables. Your modem, which should have been supplied by your ISP, likely came with six feet of both USB cable and CAT5e network cable. It’s also likely that the router you just purchased came with a similar stretch of CAT5e network cable. Take the USB cable (which should currently run from your modem directly to your computer) out and set it aside. Now, connect your modem using a CAT5e cable directly to your router’s internet (or WAN) port. Finally, connect your computer to your router using the remaining CAT5e cable.
