How do I get my windowsXP laptop to print to a printer in the network ?
The printer, HP2570 is ethernet to the network.
The laptop is connected via wifi to the Netgear router which is ethernet to the network.

First, make sure that the printer, if it is connected to another computer, is set up to be shared and that the computer is on the same work group you are.
Once this is done, or if the printer is a stand-alone network printer, go to the add a printer wizard on your laptop.
Select add a network printer <next>
browse for the printer <next>
drill down through the network tree and find your printer <next>
Follow the prompts

If the Printer is connected to the network and has an IP then add the new Printer using the Wizard.
But,
Select a Local Printer (and not Network).
Then under communication port, scroll down to TCP/IP
Enter in the IP address of the Printer.
It will ask you for drivers so use the CD, or download them or perhaps Windows has them already. Once done, print a test page.
If DHCP is enabled on your router or print server, then perhaps assign that specific IP to the MAC address of the printer’s NIC card so that the IP address doesn’t change.
