Can I use wireless access point in this case?
I’m using verizon fios
however, the router is located in the living room
and the speed in my room (which is about 5~6m away) just sucks
(the signal is very low speed about 11.0mbps// living room: very good speed 54mbps) I want to boost my wireless signal to my room
but i don’t know how to do it. I heard u can use wireless access point
but i don’t know how and if it works in my house network
do i hav to connect my WAN from verizon router all the way to my room?
Any ideas? advices?

The router is the wireless access point….. try this : http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html
put it in the router antenna and point it towards your room…

Access Points are used to expand the range of wireless networks, but they require a cable run to get network data to the AP. So you might as well just run an Ethernet cable to your room.
If you have some $$$, you can invest in a Wireless Range Extender.
Also, a cheap PCMCIA card with an external antenna connector can be connected to a directional antenna (even the famous Pringles can antenna.)
