Get your R A to put you in touch with the network administrator. It is possible — but you will need to know what type of modem is being used. It may or may not be allowed.

I would ask College-IT Department First about Wireless Router. The reason Network will cause conflict with DCHP running at same time. It depends on College-IT Department what they said if they allow student to have wireless router. If they said NO then I would recommend Access Point. Access Point is similar to wireless router but DHCP is turn off. This will not cause problems to College Network (Campus). Make sure to have security on Access Point.
Hope this helps

Yes you can do this. You should plug it into a router. You may want to check with your college to see if they allow students to run wireless connections. Depending on the college’s policies, you may need to enable NAT to get more than one user allowed. I however would not allow anyone other than you or your roommate to have access. Additionally, I would recommend securing your network as well. Sometimes the router will have to be registered or activiated if your college requires activation on their network.

Yes plugging into a wireless router will work, assuming that is, that your computer has wireless internet.
I don’t know if you can secure it, however. The college is equipped to keep and eye on what is going on through THEIR internet, and if someone else is doing illegal things through YOUR internet connection (from the router to the wall), you may get the heat.
