can a gsm phone working on 1900 MHz band be unbranded and then used on 900 MHz band?

Well Yes and No here is the explanation:
if that phone is a quand band and has 900 and 1900 on the phone then it will work BUT if the phone only supports 1900 band alone even if it is unbranded it will not work on any other band but 1900.
