US CIVIL WAR QUESTION: How did the development of the west (US) contribute to the US Civil War?

I know how the industrial and "moral" development of the North and South contributed to the start of the US Civil War but I have no clue how the development of the west contributed to it. Anyone know? It would be VERY helpful.

Also, if anyone can give me more detail about the theory that the north got involved in the war to gain more control of the south, rather than to stop slavery, that would be good too. I’ve heard that the North used slavery as a moral excuse to start the war rather than a logical one and that the main goal of the north was to just gain further economic and political control of the south.

This is for an essay, thanks. If you can’t get to both questions, answer my first one if you can’t get both.

Help with outdoor camera setup…?

Hi, i currently have dome cameras that are night vision and i would like to have each setup at the top of my house to see all four sides.(i am able to use a ladder to get up there.)
The problem is that i do not want wireless cameras and i have to run a thick cord around my house to get from inside the closet(video system place) to th outside and i do not want the cord to be too obvious.
What is the best way to get the wire from inside of the closet, and out to the top if the roof under the gutter? I am not too experienced in wiring through sheet rock and materials like that.
Should i go up through the ceiling to the attic and then out the ends of the house?

Can you install a DSL connection on a wireless router instead of plugging the ethernet wire into the computer?

I am in the process of changing ISP’s from mobile wireless to plain DSL and I am setting up the network on my own. According to the instructions, I must install the ethernet cord from the modem to a computer. I was wondering if I could bypass plugging into the computer and use my wireless router instead.

Increasing Wi-Fi signal in my house (wireless bridge or access point, etc)?

This is my problem, my wireless router is located on the upstairs floor and I would like to increase the wireless signal two floors down in my basement. For instance, in Room A I have a Westell Versalink 327W wireless router connected via Ethernet to the desktop computer in that room. When I am in my basement (which is 2 floors down) I only pick up 1/5 bars of signal (on my laptop) if I am lucky. We will call my basement Room B. I would love to increase the wireless signal in Room B so that I could hook up my PS3 there, as well as use my laptop in there without having hiccups in the connection. I would like to be able to use these without needing an Ethernet cable (connecting wirelessly). I have read about things called wireless bridges as well as Access points. I am not sure which exactly I need in this situation, but I would like to be able to put one in Room B so that it connects wirelessly to the router in Room A, and as a result, increases the wireless signal in Room B. Sorry for being so confusing, but any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
