Matt Nelson, President and CEO

Our CEO brings over 20 years of wireless technology business and marketing experience. He has proven management skill with multiple fortune 500 companies. At his previous position he introduced a number of wireless industry first-to-market products and was responsible for marketing, strategic planning, and strategic partnerships. He has successfully launched several revolutionary wireless products for Avocent, Motorola and 3COM. He holds a patent in wireless computing, a BS in computer information systems and a MBA from Regis University in Colorado.

Mike Derby, Chief Technology Officer and Founder

Mike has more than 12 years of experience in the wireless technology sector, six at wireless startups. He was a prior voting member at IEEE 802.11 and 802.15 meetings. Mr. Derby’s postgraduate degrees include a master’s in engineering from Clarkson and an MBA from Cornell. Mike founded AvaLAN Wireless and for the first year was the only employee. Since then, his single-minded focus has guided AvaLAN’s steady growth in sales and profitability.
